Approved by the Board of Directors of [Preused Ltd / Global Vintage]
This statement is made under section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and describes the steps we have taken—and will continue to take—to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
1. Our business and structure
Global Vintage is a UK-based retailer of second-hand and vintage apparel operating online via Shopify and related marketplaces. Our supply chain includes:
-
UK and international vintage/wholesale suppliers
-
Individual and small-business sellers
-
Logistics, warehousing, and garment care partners
-
Technology and service providers (e-commerce, payments)
Legal entity: [Preused Ltd (trading as Global Vintage)].
Registered office: Unit 1 Cilmedw Way, Llangollen, United Kingdom, LL20 8AG
2. Our policy framework
We do not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking. Our policies include:
-
Code of Conduct for employees and suppliers
-
Supplier Standards prohibiting forced, bonded, or child labour and requiring lawful wages, working hours, and safe conditions
-
Whistleblowing and grievance channels for confidential reporting
-
Recruitment policy requiring right-to-work checks and direct employment where feasible
3. Risk assessment
While second-hand apparel has a lower manufacturing risk profile than newly produced garments, there can be risks in:
-
Upstream sourcing (some items may originate from regions with higher risk)
-
Warehousing and logistics (agency labour)
-
International shipments and consolidation centres
We review geography, labour agency usage, and any changes in sourcing to assess risk annually.
4. Due diligence & supplier onboarding
-
Vet new suppliers with questionnaires covering labour practices, sub-contracting, and compliance history
-
Include contractual clauses on anti-slavery, audit cooperation, and termination rights
-
Prioritise suppliers with recognised certifications or proven compliance systems
-
Spot-check documentation and, where proportionate, request third-party audit evidence
5. Monitoring & remediation
-
Maintain a register of suppliers and risk ratings
-
Investigate concerns raised via staff, customers, or partners
-
If a breach is identified, we will work with the supplier on a time-bound corrective action plan; failure to remediate may lead to suspension or termination
-
Provide or signpost remedy for affected workers where within our influence
6. Training & awareness
-
Provide annual awareness training for relevant staff (buying, warehouse/ops, customer care) on indicators of modern slavery and reporting routes
-
Share supplier guidance on our standards and expectations
7. Key performance indicators (KPIs)
-
% of active suppliers that have accepted our Supplier Standards
-
% of higher-risk suppliers with completed questionnaires/reviews
-
Number of issues reported and resolved within target timeframes
-
Staff training completion rates
8. Next steps
-
Extend supplier questionnaire coverage to [target %] of active suppliers
-
Tighten labour-agency controls for logistics partners
-
Pilot independent spot-checks for higher-risk tiers
-
Publish an annual progress update
